The aim of this project is to complement the approach developed by UMR-Geographie-Cité (“SimPop” Models), using an approach based on the organization and deployment of multinational corporation networks in urban system. Christophe Le Page currently works at the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD). Christophe does research on participatory modelling of the interactions between agriculture and the environment, focusing more specifically on the relationships among stakeholders about the management of natural renewable resources. Christophe is designing and using interactive agent-based simulation and role-playing games. He is an active member of the Companion Modelling research group.

My research interests reside at the nexus of science and technology policy, organizational theory, and complexity theory—I am interested in how the management and organization of S&T research influences the implementation of policies and the emergence of organizational strategies and innovation. Although my research involves the use of multiple qualitative and quantitative methods, I rely heavily on agent based modeling and system dynamics approaches in addressing my research questions.

I have been involved in agent-based modelling since the early nineties with a consistent attention to methdological improvement, institutional development and empirical issues. My mission is that ABM should be a routinely accepted research method (with a robust methodology) across the social sciences. To this end I have built diverse models and participated in research projects across economics, law, medicine, psychology, anthropology and sociology. I took a DPhil in economics on adaptive firm behaviour and then was involved in two research projects on money management and farmer decision making. Since 2006 I have worked at the Department of Sociology (now the School of Media, Communication and Sociology) at the University of Leicester. I was involved in the founding of JASSS and (more recently RofASSS https://rofasss.org) and have regularly served on the review panels for international conferences in the ABM community.

Ronja Hotz is a PhD student in the Land Use Change & Climate Research Group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where she has been working since August 2023. Her research focuses on understanding and modelling the social processes underlying land use change using agent-based modelling, with a particular emphasis on the CRAFTY framework. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Freie Universität Berlin and a Master’s degree in Theoretical Physics from Technische Universität Berlin.

Prior to her PhD, she worked at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, where she implemented a generic decision-making layer for land managers in agent-based socio-ecological models. The framework was analysed in a stylised model to investigate emergent dynamics and critical transitions and was subsequently integrated into the InSEEDS model, which simulates the adoption of conservation agriculture at regional to global scales.

I am a Reader in the Centre for Health Economics, conducting interdisciplinary research aimed at tackling healthcare challenges and improving decision-making and implementation in healthcare policy. My research is centred around using systems thinking and modelling approaches in health economics evaluation and draws on tools and methods from mathematical epidemiology, economics, management science, and computer science, among other fields.

My main body of work involves systems modelling and simulation, and it involves integrating disease and economic models for policy impact evaluation and prioritisation. I am interested in both infectious disease and non-communicable disease modelling. From a methodological standpoint, I am particularly interested in strengthening rigour in agent-based modelling and hybrid models, which integrate modelling methods when this simplifies analyses. I have applied my research to studying and conducting knowledge-exchange activities addressing global health challenges. This includes conducting healthcare intervention and policy evaluations, studying health systems strengthening in low- and middle-income countries, studying antimicrobial resistance policy globally and in the UK, evaluating COVID-19 policy and interventions, investigating how behaviour and social structure affect health and diseases, and exploring the role of incentives in healthcare policy design.

I hold a PhD in Management Science, specialising in modelling for healthcare policy, from the University of Strathclyde and an MA in economics and BA honours economics from McGill University, in Montreal.
