We are looking for an enthusiastic Post-Doctoral researcher with a background in computer simulation, agent-based modelling, farmer behavioural modelling or microsimulation to join the BESTMAP team in the University of Leeds and contribute to the development of individual-farm agent-based modelling on farmer decision making, in dealing with challenges in land-use intensification, sustainable agriculture and climate change.
The main purpose of the job is to undertake research creating and use agent base social simulation tools with policy makers and other stakeholder groups to deliver outputs that can feed directly […]
Adaptive resilient economy: responding to shocks under boundedly-rational economic expectations
We focus on modeling economy as an adaptive complex system. Heterogeneous economic agents with bounded rationality and imperfect information make decisions and interact with each other giving rise to macroeconomic phenomena. Economies globally become more interconnected and prone to shocks (incl. climate-induced natural hazards). How do networked economies recover and evolve in face of adversities?

Seeking researcher with skills in agent-based modelling of agricultural systems and/or networks for a project on traders as connectors and mediators across scales. The position is part of an ERC project that combines empirical research with modelling to identify mechanisms of persistence and change in social-ecological systems. The research involves collaboration with interdisciplinary team of empirical researchers, modellers and philosophers at Stockholm Resilience Centre (www.seslink.org).
The successful candidate will perform agent-based modeling (ABM) and optimisation of consumer preferences for technologies and strategies to manage solar PV and electricity demand for the next 3 yr. This is an interdisciplinary project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Scenario Evaluation for Sustainable Agro-forestry Management (SESAM)
Among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) three broad groups coexist: A) articulating demand for further human resource […]
We are looking for a qualified person to coordinate and lead the development of data-driven analytical approaches to assess agricultural risk and risk-reduction interventions. The position will also provide thought leadership on new directions for CIAT’s data science research on agricultural risk management, financial services for agriculture (e.g. credit and insurance), and climate finance. The position will be full-time and based in Nairobi, Kenya, but will have a global mandate.
At the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), we are currently advertising a PhD fellowship in the area of policy analysis using agent-based modelling. […]
The Ethics/Philosophy of Technology Section of Delft University of Technology is looking for a PhD candidate who will develop an agent-based model to simulate responsibility arrangements in resilience policy for climate adaptation. We are looking for someone with strong conceptual skills, for example through a background in philosophy or artificial intelligence, and experience in agent-based modelling or a willingness to acquire agent-based modelling skills.
