We are seeking a post-doctoral research fellow for a 1-year appointment with the possibility for a further 1-year renewal, to develop an application of the MIDAS (Migration, Intensification, and Diversification as Adaptive Strategies) modeling framework to examine influences of environmental variability on migration flows in West Africa. The successful candidate will work with a team of researchers from BU, NYU, and Columbia University.

Computational social scientist PhD fellowship in Norway to pursue interdisciplinary methods for studying “pop up” humanitarian aid actors. Ideal candidate has both qualitative (especially ethnographic fieldwork) data experience as well as modeling skills and abilities.

We focus on modeling economy as an adaptive complex system. Heterogeneous economic agents with bounded rationality and imperfect information make decisions and interact with each other giving rise to macroeconomic phenomena. Economies globally become more interconnected and prone to shocks (incl. climate-induced natural hazards). How do networked economies recover and evolve in face of adversities?
