Graduate position (MS/PhD) Chronic wasting disease modeling


The Belsare Lab at Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment is seeking an outstanding PhD or MS student beginning Spring 2024. The student’s project will focus on applied epidemiological research using an agent-based modeling framework (OvCWD). Results from this project will inform management recommendations regarding chronic wasting disease (CWD) surveillance and control strategies. The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and develop analytical and writing skills. Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree/MS in Wildlife Science, Conservation, Range Management, Ecology, or similar field; GPA minimum 3.00; effective communication skills with diverse populations and collaborators; strong work ethic and ability to work independently and contribute to a team setting.

Preferred Skills

Preferred skills and past experiences are not required for consideration. Prior experience with publication or presentation of research; familiarity with R.
Applicants that will be the most competitive for this position will have experience (and willingness to learn more) with R/NetLogo, quantitative skills (e.g., mechanistic modeling, statistics).

Start Date: Preferably enroll by January 2024; later start may be possible

Location: Auburn, AL.

Graduate stipend: MS $20,000, PhD $25,000 and tuition waiver included.
