We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Earth Science and Ecology for two years on a full-time basis. Within the co-operation project ‘Emerging patterns in coupled systems’ between the University of Amsterdam and the Free University of Amsterdam, the candidate will join and strengthen a multi-disciplinary group (5 PhD students, a Postdoc and several staff members) for developing agent-based models (ABMs) of human-environment systems to answer a variety of questions in the context of land-use change, water-risk management and animal-movement ecology. Working at the interface between three research groups of the two universities working in these fields, the candidate will work on one of the major challenges in agent-based modelling: the development, description and application of new concepts and techniques to parameterize ABMs.
