The United States Research Software Engineer Association brings together U.S.-based people who create, maintain, and contribute to the research software ecosystem. The first US-RSE Association community building workshop will be held April 21-22, 2020 in Princeton, NJ. This will be a workshop focused on planning the best path forward to grow the US-RSE Association.

iCROPM2020 will focus on recent improvements and applications of crop simulation models to better support agricultural production and food security under global change. All types of crops and cropping systems (arable, grasslands, intercrops) and world regions will be considered, including high and low inputs systems, with relevance for large agricultural enterprises to smallholder farmers, under climate change.

Sub-Saharan Africa faces major challenges around agriculture, food security and water access over the next half century. SENTINEL (Social and Environmental Trade-offs in African Agriculture) is partnering with a team of researchers at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in a horizon scanning activity aimed at gathering insights on “achieving food and nutrition security, reducing inequality, and preserving terrestrial ecosystems.”

This 2-week summer school is about learning the different skills required for building agent-based models for renewable resources management. The first week focuses on general background lectures and learning of UML and platforms. The second week is dedicated to the design and implementation of a model on a platform. The various models built by the different groups are then presented to all the participant at the ned of the training session.
