Wiki Writers is a dedicated wikipedia page creation agency looking for a knowledgeable and research-driven Wikipedia Knowledge Editor to support the documentation and representation of computational social science research, institutions, and academic contributors on Wikipedia.
This role sits at the intersection of academic research and open knowledge. The right candidate understands how scientific research is structured, how to translate complex findings into neutral, encyclopedic language, and how to source and verify claims against Wikipedia’s strict editorial standards.
What You Will Do
Research, write, and submit Wikipedia articles covering computational social science researchers, institutions, academic journals, and research projects
Conduct thorough notability assessments using peer reviewed publications, academic citations, and recognised third party sources
Translate complex scientific and research-based content into clear, neutral, encyclopedic language that meets Wikipedia’s editorial guidelines
Build and format citations correctly using academic reference standards compatible with Wikipedia’s sourcing requirements
Submit drafts through Articles for Creation and manage the full review process through to publication
Respond to reviewer feedback and handle revisions with precision and academic rigour
Monitor and maintain existing Wikipedia pages covering research institutions and academic contributors for accuracy and policy compliance
What We Are Looking For
Proven experience as one of the wikipedia editors for hire with a track record of published academic or research related Wikipedia pages
Background in social science, computational research, data science, or a related academic field
Strong research skills with ability to identify and verify credible peer reviewed and third party sources
Excellent written English with the ability to write in a neutral, encyclopedic, and academically appropriate tone
Deep understanding of Wikipedia’s notability guidelines, verifiability policy, and neutral point of view standards
Ability to manage multiple research documentation projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Portfolio of successfully published Wikipedia pages required
Qualifications
Degree in Social Science, Computational Science, Data Science, Communications, or related field
Postgraduate qualification preferred but not essential
Formal Wikipedia editing experience or Wikimedia Foundation training is an advantage
