Post-doc position at IRIT, Toulouse, France in agent-based modeling and simulation

The SMAC Team of the IRIT lab (Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse)
invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship
in the EmoTES project funded by the ANR.
The aim of the EmoTES project is to study a specific class of emotions, so-called “strategic emotions”,
namely those emotions such as guilt, remorse… which arise in the context of strategic interaction
(that is, when an agent’s utility of a given choice also depends on other agents’ behaviors).

The main goal of the postdoc fellowship will be to investigate theoretical and experimental studies
led on these emotions in the aim of integrating them into the decision process of artificial agents used
in agent-based social simulations in order to enhance their cognitive plausibility.
The fellowship will focus on incorporating strategic emotions into the SocLab simulator in order to account
for their influence on the agents’ social behavior (http://soclabproject.wordpress.com).

Profile :
Applicants should have a PhD thesis and skills in agent-based modeling and simulation.
Knowledge in emotions (formalization and implementation), decision-making process, sociology and/or modelling for social sciences
will be appreciated.

The fellowship will begin on the 1st of November (negotiable).
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Review of the applications will begin on the 25th of September.

The monthly salary will be in accordance with CNRS regulations for academic personnel in France.

Complete dossiers, including a cv and letters of recommendation should be sent to
Christophe Sibertin-Blanc (Christophe.Sibertin-Blanc@univ-tlse1.fr) and Benoit Gaudou (benoit.gaudou@univ-tlse1.fr).
