PhD Colloquium at the Social Simulation Conference 2017

!!! Deadline extended to the 25th of June !!!

Dear fellow PhD students,

Did you ever feel as the only agent-based modeller in your research institute? Do you wonder whether to use Netlogo or any other ABM platform? Are you struggling with writing your ODD? Do you want to know in which journals you can publish your ABM? We did too… So we started discussing our concerns and came up with the idea of organising this PhD Colloquium especially designed to tackle the questions that you always wanted but never dared to ask!

The aim of this Colloquium is to have a low entry – which does not imply low level – interactive, single day event for and by PhD students. It will be a unique opportunity for PhD students to speak, practice your presentation, shoot ideas, and ask basic and/or difficult modelling questions to fellow PhD students in a relaxed atmosphere. You will also have the chance to learn about the review process and off course, to get to know each other!

Submissions for the colloquium must be sent to: [email protected] by the 25th of June 2017.

Short abstracts, extended abstracts, or conceptual models as well as questions about coding, calibration, validation,… can be submitted in PDF format.

Every student submitting will be asked to review the work of another student. Submissions for the Social Simulation Conference could also be submitted for the Colloquium but not necessarily.

PhD students who’s submission is not retained for a presentation at the SSC conference are encouraged to submit their work for the Colloquium.

The PhD Colloquium will take place on Monday 25th of September 2017, the 1st day of the Social Simulation Conference 2017 in Dublin.

Below you can find the preliminary programme.

We hope to welcome you in Dublin!

Wybo Wiersma, Oscar Kraan and Michelle Haurand
