The annual European Conferences on Complex Systems (ECCS) have become a major venue for the Complex Systems community since they were started in 2003. For the first time, this year, the conference will be held in North America to foster and multiply contacts between the European, North American and Asian communities working in this domain. CCS’15 will be a major international conference and event in the area of complex systems and interdisciplinary science in general.
The conference will offer unique opportunities to study novel scientific approaches in a multitude of application areas, as reflected by the conference tracks:
Conference Main Tracks
? Foundations of Complex Systems (complex networks, self-organization, nonlinear dynamics, statistical physics, mathematical modeling, simulation)
? Information and Communication Technologies (Internet, WWW, search, semantic web)
? Language, Linguistics, Cognition and Social Systems (evolution of language, social consensus, artificial intelligence, cognitive processes)
? Economics and Finance (social networks, game theory, stock market, crises)
? Infrastructure, Planning and Environment (critical infrastructures, urban planning, mobility, transport, energy)
? Biological Complexity (biological networks, systems biology, evolution, natural science, medicine and physiology)
? Social Ecological Systems (global environmental change, green growth, sustainability, resilience)
Moreover, two days of the conference, 30 September and 1 October, are reserved for satellite meetings proposed by their own organizers, which will cover a broad range of subjects on all aspects of Complex Systems. For these, facilities are available, and the program committee will review the applications. See below for special instructions for satellite session proposals.
Call for Papers and Posters
All fields of complexity science are encouraged, including disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary work. Integrative research is particularly encouraged.
Submission of Abstracts

Your abstract should articulate the objectives of the presenter, a brief but thorough description of the research, and the expected gain by those attending the talk.
Four types of presentation are available, and you should select your preference:
Paper: Accepted paper presenters will be allowed 15 minutes for presentation and an additional 5 minutes for question and answer session with the audience.
Ignite: Accepted ignite presenters will be allowed 5 minutes for presentation with no questions and answers with the audience. This allows approximately 3-5 slides.
Poster: Poster sessions will be organized each day of the conference, but not on days for the satellite sessions. Presenters are expected to be available at their poster during the morning and afternoon coffee breaks.

Review of Abstracts
Abstracts will be reviewed by the experts of the Program Committee and accepted according to their order of submission and relevance to overall conference objectives. Upon acceptance of the abstract, paper presenters will be assigned to a session and provided additional information on the preparation of slides and organization of each session. Poster authors will be provided additional information on preparation of the poster for presentation.
Important Dates
15 April, 2015: Deadline for submission of proposals for satellite sessions.
30 April, 2015: Deadline for submission of abstracts for papers, ignites, and satellites, or proposed posters.
15 May, 2015: Notification to satellite session organizers.
1 June, 2015: Notification to authors of papers, ignites, and posters.
15 August, 2015: Final abstracts due in electronic form. All authors should revise their abstract or proposal in EasyChair and attach a camera-ready pdf file to the EasyChair submission (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ccs15). Do not send them separately to the conference program committee. No revisions of abstracts will be accepted after this date or included in the conference abstract database.
Submission of Satellite Proposals
Satellite sessions will be held on Wednesday, September 30 and Thursday, October 1, 2015. A satellite session may be either a half-day session or a full-day session. Each satellite is organized and managed by its own committee, who are also responsible for reviewing proposed papers and working with presenters in the session. The number of rooms available for satellite sessions is limited. Therefore, satellite session organizers are encouraged to carefully examine the submission and review process below.

Satellite themes should be consistent with the general theme of the conference, but the satellites are intended to bring novel and different topics to the attention of the participants.
In preparing your proposal, please specify the satellite title, as well as the names and institutions of the members of the organizing committee. Your proposal should articulate the objectives of the satellite session, a brief but thorough description of the scope of the session, anticipated number of presentations, and the expected gain by those attending the session. If possible, invited speakers should be identified in the proposal. Be sure to indicate if you intend to host a half-day or full-day satellite session.
Review of Satellite Proposals
Proposals for satellite sessions will be reviewed by the experts of the Program Committee and accepted according to their order of submission, based on their coherence, their relevance to the general themes of the conference, originality and scientific soundness. Once the selection process is complete, satellite session organizers will be notified by e-mail. All satellite session organizers and session participants are expected to register for CCS‘15.
The deadline for applications for satellite meetings is 15 April, 2015. Official notification of acceptance will be sent before or on 15 May 2015 at the latest.
Organization and Management of Satellite Sessions
Upon acceptance of the satellite session proposal, organizers will be expected to issue their own call for papers, and establish their own review process for submissions. Abstracts submitted for the satellite sessions must be entered through EasyChair (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ccs15). Authors should submit their abstract as a “paper” but indicate the title of the satellite session in the first line of the abstract. Abstracts submitted for inclusion in a satellite session will be reviewed and selected by the satellite program committee members, based on their adherence with the theme of the satellite, originality and scientific soundness. Satellite session organizers are expected to communicate with their presenters directly on all aspects of the review process and session organization. Satellite session organizers should not accept and/or review submissions not entered into EasyChair, as these papers will not be included in the conference program.
Final abstracts for both the satellite session and individual authors in the satellite session are due in electronic form (pdf) by 15 August, 2015. Authors should revise their proposal or abstract in EasyChair and attach a camera-ready pdf file to the EasyChair submission. Do not send them separately to the conference program committee or the satellite program committee. No revisions of proposals or abstracts will be accepted after this date or included in the conference abstract database.
