Seeking researcher with skills in agent-based modelling of agricultural systems and/or networks for a project on traders as connectors and mediators across scales. The position is part of an ERC project that combines empirical research with modelling to identify mechanisms of persistence and change in social-ecological systems. The research involves collaboration with interdisciplinary team of empirical researchers, modellers and philosophers at Stockholm Resilience Centre (www.seslink.org).

two 2- year postdoc or researcher positions are available at the Stockholm Resilience Centre for modeling poverty traps and cross-scale interactions in social-ecological systems. We are seeking candidates with backgrounds in dynamical systems theory, complexity theory or related fields and interest in the dynamics of social-ecological systems, particularly in the context of natural resource management in fisheries and agriculture. For details, please see […]

The Center for Applied GIScience at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (http://gis.uncc.edu) is seeking a broadly trained post-doctoral research associate in Geographic Information Science with a focus on spatiotemporal simulation of complex adaptive spatial systems. Specific preferred requirements and expectations include 1) expertise in spatiotemporal simulation (e.g., agent-based models and cellular automata) and complexity theory; 2) expertise or experience in quantitative […]

The Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE, www.isoe.de) in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, offers a three year post for a senior scientist in the area of modelling social-ecological systems. The successful candidate is expected to have strong expertise in recent modelling techniques (e.g. agent-based modelling, fuzzy logic) and should be familiar with complexity theory and theories of self-organisation. The thematic focus of the post is water research. As ISOE’s working language is […]
