A land-use model to illustrate ambiguity in design

Julia Schindler | Published Mon Oct 15 14:57:13 2012 | Last modified Fri Jan 13 18:39:33 2017

This is an agent-based model that allows to test alternative designs for three model components. The model was built using the LUDAS design strategy, while each alternative is in line with the strategy. Using the model, it can be shown that alternative designs, though built on the same strategy, lead to different land-use patterns over time.

A simple Multi-Agent System of the Tragedy Of the Commons (MASTOC-s)

Julia Schindler | Published Fri Jun 29 13:39:10 2012 | Last modified Sat Apr 27 20:18:19 2013

This is a simple model replicating Hardin’s Tragedy of the Commons using reactive agents that have psychological behavioral and social preferences.

The model objective’s is to explore the management choice set to uncover which subsets of strategies are most effective at maximizing species coexistence on a fragmented landscape.

Evolution of Conditional Cooperation

Marco Janssen Miles Manning Oyita Udiani | Published Thu Aug 1 04:03:07 2013 | Last modified Fri Dec 6 05:35:19 2013

Cultural group selection model used to evaluate the conditions for agents to evolve who have other-regarding preferences in making decisions in public good games.

Peer reviewed Swidden Farming Version 2.0

C Michael Barton | Published Wed Jun 12 23:54:35 2013 | Last modified Wed Sep 3 23:37:34 2014

Model of shifting cultivation. All parameters can be controlled by the user or the model can be run in adaptive mode, in which agents innovate and select parameters.

The purpose of the model is to examine whether and how mobile pastoralists are able to achieve an Ideal Free Distribution (IFD).

PR-M: The Peer Review Model

Francisco Grimaldo Mario Paolucci | Published Sun Nov 10 12:55:52 2013 | Last modified Wed Jul 1 15:44:39 2015

This is an agent-based model of peer review built on the following three entities: papers, scientists and conferences. The model has been implemented on a BDI platform (Jason) that allows to perform both parameter and mechanism exploration.

SBH trust model

Di Wang | Published Tue Dec 14 14:50:47 2010 | Last modified Sat Apr 27 20:18:45 2013

This is a computational model to articulate the theory and test some assumption and axioms for the trust model and its relationship to SBH.

Population Control

David Shanafelt | Published Mon Dec 13 15:53:14 2010 | Last modified Sat Apr 27 20:18:43 2013

This model looks at the effects of a “control” on agent populations. Much like farmers spraying pesticides/herbicides to manage pest populations, the user sets a control management regiment to be use
