ForagerNet3_Demography: A Non-Spatial Model of Hunter-Gatherer Demography

Andrew White | Published Thu Oct 17 18:53:03 2013 | Last modified Thu Oct 17 19:13:37 2013

ForagerNet3_Demography is a non-spatial ABM for exploring hunter-gatherer demography. Key methods represent birth, death, and marriage. The dependency ratio is an imporant variable in many economic decisions embedded in the methods.

The purpose of the AdaptPumpa model is to analyze the robustness of the Pumpa irrigation system in Nepal to climate change.

An Agent-Based Model of Internet Diffusion Under General and Specific Network Externalities

Filiz Garip | Published Fri Apr 27 20:56:06 2012 | Last modified Sat Apr 27 20:18:23 2013

Using nodes from the 2002 General Social Survey sample, the code establishes a network of ties with a given homophily bias, and simulates Internet adoption rates in that network under three conditions: (i) no network externalities, (ii) general network externalities, where an individual’s reservation price is a function of the overall adoption rate in the network, (iii) specific network externalities, where reservation price is a function of the adoption rate in individual’s personal […]

This ABM looks at the effect of multiple reviewers and their behavior on the quality and efficiency of peer review. It models a community of scientists who alternatively act as “author” or “reviewer” at each turn.

Land-Livelihood Transitions

Nicholas Magliocca Daniel G Brown Erle C Ellis | Published Mon Sep 9 20:21:13 2013 | Last modified Fri Sep 13 14:25:53 2013

Implemented as a virtual laboratory, this model explores transitions in land-use and livelihood decisions that emerge from changing local and global conditions.

Smallholder Behavioural Decisions During Times of Drought Stress

Samantha Dobbie | Published Sun Sep 15 13:46:42 2013 | Last modified Sat Sep 27 10:35:00 2014

An empirical ABM of smallholder decisions in times of drought stress.

The Pampas Model is an Agent-Based Model intended to explore the dynamics of structural and land use changes in agricultural systems of the Argentine Pampas in response to climatic, technological economic, and political drivers.

Socio-spatial segregation in Salzburg, Austria

Andreas Koch | Published Fri Sep 25 06:37:44 2009 | Last modified Sat Apr 27 20:18:48 2013

This is a first preliminary simulation model to model segregation in the city of Salzburg, Austria.

Simulates the construction of scientific journal publications, including authors, references, contents and peer review. Also simulates collective learning on a fitness landscape. Described in: Watts, Christopher & Nigel Gilbert (forthcoming) “Does cumulative advantage affect collective learning in science? An agent-based simulation”, Scientometrics.

DIAL1.0

P Dykstra | Published Wed Nov 28 21:13:27 2012 | Last modified Sat Apr 27 20:18:30 2013

DIAL is a model of group dynamics and opinion dynamics. It features dialogues, in which agents put their reputation at stake. Intra-group radicalisation of opinions appears to be an emergent phenomenon.
